The town of South Hero is known as the gateway to the beautiful Lake Champlain Islands. South Hero is the southernmost town of Grand Isle County and is just a short twenty-minute commute from Burlington, Vermont. It is one of five towns in Grand Isle County and shares an island with the town of Grand Isle.

Traveling from Burlington, you will enter South Hero by way of the two-mile Sandbar causeway over Lake Champlain. The breathtaking lake and mountain views captivate locals and visitors alike. 

The small town boasts a strong sense of community with several year-round events, volunteer opportunities and outdoor public spaces. Folks from near and far will gather at Snow Farm Vineyard for Summer Concerts or head to the local Champlain Islands Farmers Market for fresh produce. Popular destinations such as the Birdhouse Forest at White’s Beach or Harry Barber’s Stone Castles attract many to the Island town. Outdoor recreation is plentiful as well; many hop on the Bike Ferry from South Hero to take on the Island Line Trail that connects to the Burlington Bike Path. 

The growing town center offers everything one might need including town services, a health center, bank, public library, local shops and development plans that will strengthen the town's social fabric. South Street is home to the well-known and loved apple orchards Allenholm and Hackett’s.
